April 2, 2007, Ocean Systems announces the release of dTective v5.0.  This latest release of dTective includes three new clarification modules that have been ported from the recently released Ocean Systems ClearID™.

Since many of you have already downloaded a ClearID 14-day trial version and are currently using it, you will notice that the dialog boxes for dTective - Universal Noise Remover, Color Safe Levels and Color Safe Curves, look the same as they do for the ClearID versions of these tools.  So what is different between using them as dTective clarification processes in Avid versus using the ClearID version in Adobe® Photoshop®; and what is the advantage to having the ClearID image clarification suite along with your dtective forensic video suite?  

The advantage of using these tools in Avid is that you can easily apply them to an entire video clip, since Avid is a video environment, but if your evidence starts as a image such as a digital image of a fingerprint, then applying these tools using the ClearID image clarification filters in Adobe Photoshop would be the better choice.  Additionally, ClearID contains over 20 forensic image clarification tools, while there are 3 ClearID processes that have been ported to the dTective suite.
