Why can't I see my video in my computer monitor as I digitize?

Avid Xpress

On Avid Xpress, you need an NTSC monitor connected to the system in order to see what you are digitizing. You can connect an NTSC monitor to any of the three output options on the back of the Break Out Box (composite, component and S-Video). If you have a monitor connected and still can't see video, click here to read our article on outputting video.

Avid Xpress DV

On Avid Xpress DV, you should see video playing in your composer window as you digitize. If you do not see video, it is possible that the red V button has not been pushed in the record tool. If video is not being sent to the system, the system will give you a "no input signal present". This is indicitive of other problems, such as transcoder or firewire issues.
