HBO’s “The Wire” to Feature dTective® Forensics Tools powered by Avid Technologies

August 20, 2003 – The season finale of the hit HBO crime drama “The Wire” – scheduled to air on HBO on Sunday, August 24, at 9:30 p.m. EDT – will feature forensic video solutions from both Ocean Systems and Avid Technology, Inc.

Forensic video experts on “The Wire” will use dTective® powered by Avid® Media Composer® to help solve the case that has been profiled throughout this year’s 12-episode season. More specifically, the systems enable law enforcement officials to analyze surveillance video and convert a series of fast-moving shots from multiple cameras into a single video stream clear enough to identify even the smallest crime scene details.

“The Wire,” which is now in its second season, explores criminal investigations from the point of view of both the police and their targets. In addition to airing this season’s final episode Sunday, August 24, HBO also plans to rebroadcast the program on August 26 at 11:30 p.m., August 27 at 11:00 p.m., and August 29 at 10:00 p.m. – all EDT.
